This battle may be won in its very initial stages with the implementation of specific preventive measures. Cardiology in our country has marked startling progress during recent years. The sectors of diagnosis and treatment are on very high levels. Unfortunately however the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, despite its prime significance, still remains downgraded in our country. This should start at a very early stage - from childhood - and it should be continuous and systematic.
